Terms
What every term in the panel means - and which figures are measured rather than estimated.
The terms used in the panel and what each one actually claims. Every row says whether the figure is measured or estimated.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| cusp | A rank between 11 and 30. Apple has connected the phrase to your app but has not put you on the first page; this is the band where a metadata edit returns the most. |
| popularity | Apple's search-volume scale, 5-100. Not a mark out of a hundred: 5 is the floor and most phrases sit near it, above 25 is traffic worth chasing. A leading ~ means it is our estimate rather than Apple's figure. |
| difficulty | How contested the first page is, 0-100. Low is the good end. |
| storefront | Apple's per-country store. The same phrase can be popular in one country and unsearched in the next, so every measurement is per storefront. |
| title | The app title, 30 characters. The field Apple indexes most heavily. |
| subtitle | The subtitle, 30 characters. The next most heavily indexed field after the title. |
| keyword field | The hundred characters only Apple sees. Comma-separated; a space after a comma burns a character, and repeating a word already in the title is waste. |
| — | Not measured. Not zero - either never read, or outside the top 200. |
| ~ | This popularity is not Apple's own figure but an estimate calculated from what the store shows everyone. |
